oh geesh, this is like what? thw forth time i'm blogging on this issue? everytime i'm done with my masterpiece, POOF!!!..goner, THE PAGE CANNOT BE DISPLAYED and there goes my hardwork..down to cyber-sewage....
alrite, lets just put those anger away and blog about World Vision & Help University College's 30-Hour Famine: Children in Crisis; Your Weekend, Their Lives.
ok well, i'm like a totally 1st timer in participating in this event and trust me, it was one fun-filled and thrilling but yet mentally and physically tiring thingy.
the famine started from 12pm on the 14th and we fasted till 6pm the next day, 15th.
the lilttle miss miss here so freaking smart, the night before was so hyped up with the anime, PARADISE KISS (highly recommended!!!!) watched all 12 episodes in one night and slept lonly 4.30am. Took a 3-hours nap and woke up at 7am so get myself ready, that includes packing for the overnite event. we're all suppose to meet at willz's house that day and take off to Help University together but when i reached his house, the other told me that he went off to Malacca and will only be back like slightly later around 11am or so..so the 5 (moi, weng keong, amy, cindy and su min) of us went to the nearby coffeeshop to have our breakfast and then...head off to the famine.
GOSH!!!! it was so diffcult getting to the uni, it's so close but yet so far. Finally, after four wrong turns, Weng Keong actually spotted the A4 sized printed sign board and made our way there. All the way, we complained how small the sign board was. we were like, "can't they make it any smaller????"
ahah! so we got there, registered ourselves, got our goodie bags with a totally chinked-out T-shirt, changed into it and checked-in our luggage. Then, made our way upstairs to meet with our team-mates. Well, weng keong and amy, cindy and su min got to be in the same group but willz and i was casted into another group but nevermind, i'll be able to meet more different people and make more new friends eh? hahaha
So, my group was led by this guy, Brandon (UPM student) with groups members consisting of a cute couple (i think?) of Meg and Adrian, 3 sweethearts from HELP itself; Melissa Wen Li and Anna, two highschool boys; Wei Chin and Ashley, two specky cool doods; eu veng and calvin and the rest are adults from the Nu Skin Enterprise. Hrm, we made a pretty okay team, i would say.
oh yeah, so the day was filled with talk and all. We were given an in-depth look on how kids in some part of the world is struggling to live another day in this world. I didn't know that all these child protitution, child labor, children recruited as soldiers, and differently-abled children cases were so serious. All these while i thought all these cases are just a handful around the world but nope. Its very very much serious.
Especially, the child prostitution cases! I'm so freaking disgusted! those MEN, i mean how could they? those kids are so innocent and I bet they don't even know much about PUBERTY yet but OMG, those kids are fulfilling those disgusting perverts' sexual needs. Poor, poor them. Some of them are just the age of my little brother!!!!!! CURSE THOSE FREAKING PERVERTS!!!! Call me a feminist but I'm sticking to my point!
There were also talks about HIV/AIDS, which i would say it's kind of a highlight for the day. Learn some facts that i didn't know until then. And may i quote something from the doc that gave the talk. It's about having unsafe sex and getting AIDS.
" If you don't want it, don't do it "
" If you do it, don't get it "
" If you get it, don't spread it"
*REMEMBER THAT PEOPLE!!!!*
and so, they also provided talk about how to prevent HIV/AIDS, and the speaker was ADRIAN from Malaysian AIDS Council. He is one cool dood. He make that one so called embarassing talk so, erm confortable to listen to. Hahahaha. He made the whole session pretty lively and informational. Well, anyways, people, dig this fact, A man's sex drive is high compared to a lady, while a lady's love drive is higher compared to a man's. So, usually, when a couple tend to DO IT, it's because of a guys sex drive and the girl like succumb to it? hahaha ok i got a so call visual aid here so take a look:
so people people, can understand? hahaha nevermind, very simple, Girls, don't go spreading your legs just because ur boyfriend ask you to okay? Make sure if you wanna do it, it's mutual and you're ready for the what-so-ever consequences later okay?
and oh yeah, the speaker also demonstrated how one should put on a condom. But nope people, don't think wild thoughts okay? he did not use his own "equipment". He just got help from a very orange vegetable, A CARROT. Hahahaha well all i could say is almost everyone in the room was Rolling On Floor Laughing My Ass Off, but still i got to learn learn a few facts that i didn't know before. Like, a condom kept in a wallet of a dood is total no use. So, peepz, make sure partner get a fresh one out from a box!
and later we, were in a session where stigma and discrimination against these people with HIV/AIDS and this actually made me think. I guess sometimes HIV/AIDS patients don't really die from the disease but actually die of living in a world where people look at them with disgust and hate. Given me, i wouldn't be able to survive, i think i'll totally go GAGAs. So I respect those who are actually fighting the disease with all their might and will. (A STANDING OVATION PLEASE?!)
and after all the talk, there was the mini concert session. DJ NON from Mix.fm and Sarimah were there to grace the glorious event and they were also joined by local artiste Fran, Liang, Qings & Kueens, Couple and another few which i've forgotten. There was also a movie session which featured the Iraq-based production entitled, Turtles Can Fly. The story revolves around the life a young girl of ten or so living in a refugee camp with her elder brother (who has lost both his arms from land mines) and her baby. Yes, you heard me right. HER BABY. She was gang raped by chauvinist pigs from the regiment and got pregnant. That's just so...disgusting. Not just that, it also featured on how these kids have to risk their lives everyday picking up land mines that will blow up anytime to make a living.
it's just one sad sad world out there....
and after the movie, the others got some shut eye while i hanged around till like 3 something only i got my share of rest too.
the next morning, got up early and the 1st agenda for the day was exercise. I was like...what? no food but yet we need to do heavy exercise? but come to think about it, those kids out there are going through something tougher than this and i'm totally in no position to complain. hahaha but exercise was just a brief tai chi session...and i was so short i can't see the instructor so ended up i'm moving like a monkey being bitten by ants.
then there was a session where we were divided into different families and suppose to work to earn money to stay healthy and buy food and all, and from the 2 hours accumulated for us i only earned 10 bux from sticking stamps....turned to illegal jobs but wuzent hired...geesh... but funny thing was, 3 of my other group members actually got picked to become illegal labor and earned quite a lot and also got arrested. Now, dat's a bummer.
oh yeah and later, we were to separate 4 types of beans which were all jumbled up together in a bag to 4 different bags in 20 minutes and squatting down. wow! datz shit i tell u. but the adrenaline pump and all was totally...SYIOK..hahahaha
and after that we were set to get ready for the closing ceremony and the BREAK FAST.
YUMM....we were served with muffins, VITAMEAL (meat patties with beans and loads of healthy stuffs in it YUMMY!) and a packet of V-soy.
and after all that, we all said our goodbyes and left with a sweet memory in heart and also with the spirit to come back for another round next year. I know I will...hehehe.
and so i'll leave u guys with a few pics from the event.
